Welp, we just finished up the 2011 TREC series and its time to start rounding up thoughts and ideals for the 2012 series.
I'm currently running a 99 4.0 ohv with a 5r55e, 4.10's and 31'tires. I put a shift kit in the trans earlier in the season and it felt better but the truck is still a gutless wonder
Plans for next year need to come together sooner than later. One forsure thiing is power needs upgraded so I will be dropping a 4.0 sohc in it.
On to transmitting power to the ground. I've thought about putting a manual in it but I don't want to have to clutch during a 2+hr race. Its gonna be a last resort if it comes down to it though.
What I would ultimatly like to do is upgrade the 5r55e with all around better internal components. The trans in its current state just feels like its trying so hard to go fast but it is redicuously slow. Another issue id like to solve is the fact that it holds 2nd forever and then will eventually shift to 1st if it feels like it.
Now I've been wanting to also put a floor shifter in it for easier 1-2 shifts but I'm not sure if that would help cause it will still only shift when it wants too. I was also wandering since its electronically controlled if I could wire up a switch, like a paddle shifter to control the trans.
If anyone has any advice, I am open to all sugesstions and options. Thank u in advance
